May April March

Do you like the clever title?

It prolly went over your head.

No biggie.

I just want April (the month) to march (aka continue quickly and rapidly) so May (the month) will begin and school will end.

I apologize for all of my lack of updates and that drawing from earlier.

Future posts will include many things that have been going on in my life and things that have yet to come:

-- Starbucks is revamping evurrything
-- Steve Aoki came to the Barbary and people mainly stayed against the bar
-- Cory Kennedy was nowhere to be found
-- New haircut (love the heat, but not the humidity, dig?)
-- End of classes
-- Eagerly waiting for my JAPplication results
-- Hannah and I's adventures in Summer Sublet Hunting
-- Cut-offs
-- Pastels
-- Sweaty times
-- Turning 20
-- NYC trip Saturday

ETC. ETC.

Come back soon.

Unlike your parents' divorce / last relationship / chemotherapy / band's EP, things will get better.

Something Clever about Odysseus

Departing from my usual jokes and comedy routine known as "No Nasties" daily postings, I would like to share an interesting article about Starbucks and its impending doom.

La Nouvelle Vague de le Cafe.

Which has me torn between my two careers, one as a server at a vegan, fair-trade, local-farm supporting, and organic restaurant where I do not get paid hourly but instead earn my wages by being charming, witty, and helpful to my environmentally and socially conscious patrons AND my other job as a corporate sell-out where I receive $10+ hawking over-priced, high-fructose corn syruped, more-calories-than-you-need-for-one-day espresso-based drinks to a medley of various types of people*.

Also, I suppose being super left of center requires one to be super serious a lot of the time, I cannot help but think that AdBusters could benefit from a few humorous things here and there. I'm just saying! Who do you like more, the comic relief stylings and Italian sass of Joy Behar or the no-nonsense repertoire of Miss. Facts Hasselbeck?

Exactly.

Enjoy!

Life-long liberal (and comedienne) Joy Behar with the original ~*Star Jones*~ taking time to enjoy the view in the Hamptonz.

***Oh and also, do not get me wrong, Starbucks may do some crappy things and embody most bad things about globalization, but it isn't that of a corporation in comparison to some other places (Wal-Mart, le MacDo, Proctor and Gamble, etc.). The pay is well, they take good care of their employees, 80% of our customers are really nice, and they do give (a little) back to the communities like Philly.

FREEda Kahlo and the Great Starbucks Blackout

What a day, what a day!

After four trips to the Honors Advising Office, Hannah and I successfully scored three FREE tickets to the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the PMA. We were set for a night full of geeks and nerds since it was an honors thing BUT we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Everything was in English AND Spanish so I got to test out my reading skills. I even spotted my old Spanish professor, but she did not say 'hola'.

Oh well, que lastima.

There was also tons of free food but it really only consisted of: Garlic bread, watery marinara sauce, a sad array of crudite, cookies, and two types of dip. OH and some good chips.

The lady working the one table was flabbergasted by these "new fangled vegetarians".

IN OTHER NEWS... While I was at the Frida exhibit, I was missing out on a nation-wide Starbucks in-store training.

For three hours ALL Starbies closed down, causing many post-Panera Bread diners to suffer annoyance.

The training is the company's newest way to fight the competition by getting back to its roots. With the addition of music, sandwiches, and the rise of McDonald's new cafe sweep, Starbucks has seen its lowest sales in a long time. This new espresso training involves pulling shots better and making sure each "HAND-CRAFTED BEVERAGE" is perfect for the customer.

Is this the end of the Seattle GIANT?!

I doubt it.

People will not want to go to McDonald's to get their lattes, labels are very important!
